ABout ChrisTian
Hello, my name is Christian and I am currently working as an educator (teacher) for the Toronto District School Board. I have been a permanent educator at Corvette Junior Public School since 2020.
I completed my Masters of Teaching at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education, University of Toronto. My division was Junior/Intermediate, with a focus in History/Social Studies and First Nations, Inuit, and Metis Studies. My thesis research focused on the role of formal assessment within Indigenous education and decolonization. I have previously completed an Honours in History (BA Honours) at Trent University.
My teaching philosophy centers on fostering student success through a safe and inclusive learning environment that emphasizes innovation, inquiry, and the development of critical thinking skills. I design and implement inquiry-based activities that support holistic, critical understandings and prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. By engaging students in student-driven investigations and real-world applications of curriculum content, I ensure high levels of student engagement and meaningful learning experiences.
In the classroom, I prioritize inclusivity by addressing diverse learning styles and needs. By thoroughly familiarizing myself with students' educational requirements and incorporating their interests and strengths into our learning activities, I support each student in their efforts to reach their full potential. I am committed to creating a welcoming classroom where every student feels valued and supported, and where diverse perspectives are celebrated.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy making music, practicing wing chin, and having adventures with my partner and child.
